Weir wins again

Another crash on the track at the Bird’s Nest was not enough to derail David Weir from winning his fourth medal of the Games with victory in the men’s T54 1,500m final.
Weir won gold with a time of 3:10.34, ahead of Thailand’s Prawat Wahoram in second.
He did find himself boxed in on the insde lane in the early stages, and had to work to regain a racing position which the Surrey racer then took full advantage of.
There was drama behind Weir as once again chairs crashed out of the race, but this time it was down to the slippery conditions, with Australia’s Kurt Fearnley among those losing control with 600m to go.
“It’s sweet to have two, I’m over the moon,” said Weir.
“I only wanted one gold and now I’ve got two. I’m just overwhelmed really. At the start of the week, I didn’t think I was going to get any medals, as my body was aching.”
He is now due to race the marathon tomorrow, though he suggested he may reconsider following a gruelling schedule of 12 races so far.
“I’ll go back to the village and see how I feel in the morning about whether to start the marathon. I’ll need to get up at 5am and that’s a bit mad.
“It wasn’t the marathon I came for, it was the track.”
