British Boccia team bowl through to quarters

Britain’s BC1/BC2 boccia team have qualified for the quarter finals after recording two victories in their qualifying pool.

Individual silver medallist Nigel Murray teamed up with David Smith, Dan Bentley and Zoe Robinson to beat Canada 7-6 and Argentina 6-4.

The team had to come from behind in the first game, after finding themselves 5-2 down after three ends, before pulling back to 6-6 and winning on a tie-break.

Smith said: “It’s been a good day. We won the first one but we didn’t play particularly well and we won it a bit ugly.

“We played awfully and were lucky to scrape in with a win,” said Murray.

“Canada played well but I think we let them play well.”
