Guide Dogs for the Blind Association

TRUSTEE

(initially co-opted with a view to becoming a full trustee)

Can you help Guide Dogs achieve its vision of a world in which blind and partially-sighted people enjoy the same freedom of movement as everyone else? If you have the necessary skills and experience you could become a Guide Dogs Trustee, helping to lead the charity in the years ahead.

Guide Dogs is seeking applications from people who have experience in one or more of the following areas:

• Dog health and welfare

• Dog training

• Knowledge of the canine research environment and experience of the assessment of grant applications

The position of Trustee is unpaid, although reasonable out-of-pocket expenses are met. You would be required to attend up to six board meetings a year, usually during the day, with some overnight stays. You would also be expected to take a specific interest in certain areas of the charity, particularly relating to research, which will require a significant additional time commitment.

Applicants will be expected to attend one of two briefing sessions on either 16 or 24

March 2010, to learn more about Guide Dogs and Trustee responsibilities.

Interviews will be held at our head office near Reading, Berkshire on 28 or 29 April 2010.

For an information and application pack, contact Jo Skidmore, Trustee Liaison Officer on 0118 983 0195 or email jo.skidmore@guidedogs.org.uk

Guide Dogs strives to be an organisation which truly embraces diversity. We actively encourage applications from under-represented groups, particularly people from Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic communities and women. Applications are always welcome from blind or partially-sighted people.
