The EHRC was established by the Equality Act 2006 to advance equality, human rights and good relations in Britain.  Within the Commission, the Legal Policy Directorate is responsible for monitoring and influencing legislative and policy developments and developing codes and guidance.  It advises the Commission, prepares submissions for external bodies including the government and parliament and works with international organisations and treaty monitoring bodies.  This is a rare opportunity to shape and drive the development of domestic, European and international law. 

Qualified or eligible to practice as a Solicitor or Barrister in the UK. You will have the knowledge and ability to lead and advocate legal policy in equality and human rights and an understanding and appreciation of the wider policy and political considerations.  You will need a detailed knowledge of domestic and European discrimination and human rights law, or the ability to acquire this knowledge quickly. The role requires the ability to build effective relationships with national stakeholders / government departments. Experience or ability of managing a small team would be an advantage.
