As a Trust we attend over 600,000 emergency calls each year, transporting around 360,000 patients to hospital. We also transfer around 60,000 patients to hospital who require urgent care.

That’s why becoming an Ambulance Support Worker is about more than providing a transport service. It’s about providing support to our paramedic teams, as well as our communities.

Naturally caring and level-headed, you’ll instill trust, and provide a calming presence in whatever situation you find yourself in - from helping patients requiring urgent care get to hospital, to assisting in emergency situations. Thus, whilst you won’t need a medical background, you will need to be willing to undertake the associated and required training in patient care as well as training in assisting our other clinical staff. You will need a category C1 on your driving license and be willing to complete an advanced driving course.

Our community relies on our service 365 days a year, 7 days a week, 24 hours a day and so you’ll need to be able to work flexibly on shifts that ensure that we can meet those needs. This means that there is a high proportion of night and weekend working as well as on bank holidays and reduced opportunity for leave at peak demand times such as Christmas and New Year.

What we can offer is a truly rewarding role as part of a team committed to saving lives.
