IT Co-ordinator - Assistive Technology
£22,722 pa. Manchester
This is a great opportunity to use your skills to make a difference to the lives of blind and partially sighted people. You will do this by helping our clients to access and understand computer-related Assistive Technology so that they are more socially involved, independent and can lead more fulfilling lives.
About the role:
· You will provide information, advice, guidance, support and training on Assistive Technology to our clients
· You’ll liaise directly with support workers, education providers and employers to ensure effective support is provided
· Assess clients’ technology requirements, and make sure they have all the specialist software and technical solutions they need.
· Set up additional technology as required
· Train people on how to use assistive technology, providing coaching in groups and one-to-one
About you:
* Practical experience in the specification, installation and configuration of mainstream ICT
* Ability to carry out technical compatibility testing and specialist consultancy in Assistive Technology
* Knowledge of assistive technology products as used by blind and partially sighted people – or willingness to develop this expertise
* Broad knowledge of current developments in ICT, particularly in relation to employment
* Strong organisational and time management skills
* Good communicator both verbally and in writing
