France - Domaine de la Hamberie

Domaine de la Hamberie

Domaine de la Hamberie is a 17th Century Normandy farmstead in the fertile lower Calvados region of France. Set in seven acres of unspoilt countryside, the farm has a solar heated swimming pool, gardens, wildlife areas and both indoor and outdoor play facilities.  Five beautifully renovated gites can provide self-catering en-suite accommodation for up to fifty people, with three of our gites accessible to wheelchair users, including drive in showers, extra wide doors, support bars, lateral access to toilets, and no steps.

The largest gite, La Maison, can comfortably accommodate up to 14 people.

Gite le Fournil and Gite Martin are both fully accessible for guests in wheelchairs, and can accommodate 10-12 people each.

Gite Larose has room for 4-6 people and is also fully wheelchair accessible.

Gite Goulet has accommodation for 4-7 people.

The area is both beautiful and peaceful, with many activities nearby including a new leisure centre, golf, fishing as well as tranquil walks or cycle rides in the countryside. Falaise, the nearest town, is steeped in history and features the castle of William the Conqueror.

We are open throughout the year.

Our Holidays at la Hamberie

Posted by Michael McGrother at 29 Jul 10 12:35
This accommodation is great for us as we have a disabled son who is confined to a wheelchair and needs the space to get around. Gite le Fournil provides this and is very spacious. The gardens are also fully accessible for the wheelchair, as is the shower (just like at home). Being able to hire a hoist and a shower chair is very important for our son's comfort. We are looking forward to our next holiday at Domaine de la Hamberie in 2010 and revisiting Falaise with its castle and many restaurants. Most are wheelchair accessible and the owners are happy to help if needed. Many thanks for your help during our previous 3 visits.
