This spacious, well-designed 3-bedroomed cottage provides self-catering accommodation for both the independent wheelchair user and the assisted wheelchair user.  It sleeps 6 people (up to 2 with disabilities) and is set in the delightful South Norfolk village of East Harling with all amenities and within easy reach of larger centres including Thetford and Diss as well as tourist attractions such as Banham Zoo and Bressingham Gardens and Steam Railway.

The purpose-built accommodation provides a spacious downstairs disability bedroom with twin electrically adjustable beds, pressure care mattresses and a bedroom-to-bathroom overhead track hoist.  The en-suite bathroom has a wheel-in shower, height-adjustable basin, bath with reclining hoist seat, and Clos-o-Mat toilet that washes and dries and has grab rails.

The kitchen-diner and sitting room are open-plan for easy wheelchair access and have a range of specialist equipment including a ‘talking’ microwave, hob at wheelchair height, side-opening oven, heat-proof mugs and angled cutlery; the whole designed to accommodate a wide range of disabilities.  Items such as a portable intercom and alarm call to the disability bedroom help to provide peace of mind.

Upstairs one double bedroom and one twin bedded room adjoin a bathroom with separate shower for family members or carers. The cottage has level access hard-standing and parking outside the front door.    A walled garden with paved terrace provides a delightful relaxing and alfresco dining area.

Bedding, heating and electricity are included in the weekly tariff whilst bath towels can be hired at the time of booking if required.  The cottage is open all year and prices range from £375 to £780 per week (2010) for the whole cottage depending on the season.  Care can be arranged through local agencies at an extra cost.

The cottage is owned and managed by The Lin Berwick Trust, a registered charity, set up to build exceptionally well-designed and carefully equipped holiday accommodation for all including the most severely disabled holidaymaker.
