Verne loses out to Ulrika in the BB House

By Cathy Reay

Verne TroyerVerne Troyer was the seventh housemate evicted from this year’s Celebrity Big Brother last night with just 15.8% of the overall vote.

Bookmakers had pitted the short-statured actor, who played the character of ‘Mini-Me’ in the Austin Powers films, as a favourite to win after the general public had shown their affection towards him throughout his time in the house.

Many people described the American actor as “cute”, “amazing” and “cuddly” on the Celebrity Big Brother messageboards.

But people criticised the way Verne aggressively kissed and spoke to a baby doll when Big Brother asked him to pretend it was his former housemate, singer Mutya Bena.

Verne’s eviction was followed by rapper Coolio, Terry Christian, former TV presenter, and TV personality Ulrika Johnson, who won the competition.

In a press conference held after the evictions took place, Verne said that he wasn’t surprised not to have won and that he would be “staying in the UK for a couple of weeks, so all the single ladies hit me up.”

He added that he wanted to stay in touch with all his housemates and was glad that his friend Coolio had been in the predominantly British house with him.
