Obituary: Graham Bool
Cathy Reay
The funeral of Graham Bool, Paralympian and sports photographer who provided pictures for Disability Now, was held yesterday.
Graham, 62, died following a heart attack on September 17 at his home in Great Sailing, Essex.
Many Paralympians paid tribute at the ceremony to his dedication to and love for Paralympic sport.
He participated in wheelchair basketball tournaments at the Paralympic Games in the 1970s before retiring from competitive sport to become a photographer.
He was a great sports enthusiast and eagerly promoted the Games whenever he could.
Graham worked with Disability Now for some years, photographing the Paralympics and figures from the disability movement. His zest for life and, indeed, photography, was infectious and made him an absolute pleasure to work with.
Ian Macrae, Editor of Disability Now said, "We will miss Graham not just for the quality of his work, but also for his spirit and personality.”
Paul Carter, a reporter for Disability Now added: "I had the pleasure of working alongside Graham at a number of disability sport events over the years. His enthusiasm and approachability made him extremely popular among colleagues and competitors alike, and he was very much loved within the Paralympic community. He will be sorely missed."
Graham is survived by two children, Roger and Jessica.
